Fortaleza In the extreme northern border of Brasi them finds Fortaleza, the popolata city more of the Northeast, understood them of the state of Cearà.

Sun and celebrations are the two words that best describe this city, the capital of the state of Ceará which boasts as many as 560 km. of beautiful beaches. The sun shines almost all the time in the skies over Fortaleza and with 25 km. of beaches, it has become a favourite destination for international tourism. During the last week of July, Fortaleza hosts the “fortal”, a second carnival featuring dozens of  musical groups that parade along the “beira mar”, the Fortaleza seafront between the crowd on both sides of the street and it is reckoned that more than one million people come to take part in and enjoy  this celebration. On Monday in the “al pirata” area of Praia de Iracema, they celebrate the maddest Monday in the world; this is when a small part of a district is transformed into a huge disco with live music where people dance only to “forro” and bahian music. Just 30 km. north west of Fortaleza, we find Cumbuco. The beach is magnificent and wide with many small lakes. The sand dunes that extend inland are the main attraction of Cumbuco. People from the village are glad to show you how to skateboard down from the top of the dunes to the cooling water of the lake below. Just think that it costs only 30 cents of a euro to hire a skateboard for the whole day.
If, on the other hand, you are an all-terrain enthusiast, you can hire a buggy and you will experience the same sensations as those of a giant dipper. There are three well-known beaches in Fortaleza: one is Praia de Iracema, the second is Beira Mar and the last is Praia do Futuro, which is not only considered to be the most beautiful.
