The villa is a significant example of the architecture of the late 1500s, it has been build on an existing structure dating back to the 1300s. The villa belonged to Jacopo di Arqu�, doctor at the court of king Ludwig of Hungary, who lived in the period when the famous poet Francesco Petrarca decided to settle in this village; There is still his house and the tomb with his remains. The building is perfectly preserved and well restored, with painted ceilings and real frescoes. The whole region is rich in history, culture and food traditions. The main cities of the Veneto region can be reached very quickly from here. Venice is 37 miles away, Padova 12 miles, Vicenza 24 and Verona 49 miles. Mantova and Ferrara are about 37 miles away. It also has the best restaurant on the lake and it is not poshy at all, actually very pleasantly relaxed.

The villa is along the road from Menaggio to Porlezza on Lake Lugano, the distance to the road is some 6 to 7 metres and it runs at a lower level then the stone wall, it overlooks Menaggio and the lake on the North, East and South side including the alps on the north side and a mountain (Crocione) on the West side. It also overlooks the neigbouring villaandamp;rsquo;s garden, also a beautiful villa.

This stately home is built in 1888 as the sign shows on the frontside, it probably already existed before as the lower part of the villa there are older features, it has spectacular views on the lake. It has been compeletely restored in 2006 and 2007 to give it back its old glory. The plasterwork, affrescos, floors and features have been all restored by specialized workers and artists, to restore in the original manners. En effet ce nandamp;rsquo;est pas difficile dandamp;rsquo;imaginer les soldats Romains ou Carthaginois parcourir ses terrains qui se trouvaient le long de la rue qui menait andamp;agrave; Benevento et en Campania.
Le chemin andamp;eacute;tait obligandamp;eacute; et la rue Appia, qui traverse ces lieux, andamp;eacute;tait la seule rue consulaire qui arrivait jusquandamp;rsquo;andamp;agrave; Rome. Ce nandamp;rsquo;est que pour cette raison que Federico II installait ses soldats dans la randamp;eacute;gion du cubante qui reprandamp;eacute;sentait la frontiandamp;egrave;re entre landamp;rsquo;�tat pontifical et son Royaume.
